Oman Reports Constructive Talks with Iran on Strait of Hormuz

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Oman‘s Foreign Minister, Badr Al-Busaidi, revealed that fruitful dialogue took place with Iranian counterparts, including Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Seyed Abbas Araghchi, concerning the terms of a memorandum of understanding, particularly issues related to the Strait of Hormuz.
Al-Busaidi further stated that both sides affirmed their commitment to the principles of international law. Oman reiterated its dedication to ensuring the secure passage of ships through maritime routes without the imposition of transit fees.
Earlier, the official Oman News Agency reported via its official X account that the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a joint statement emphasizing the significant importance of leveraging the current diplomatic opportunity to support peace efforts, de-escalation initiatives, and stability consolidation based on international law and good neighborliness.
The report indicated that “both sides also clarified that this interactive approach should be seriously pursued in line with preserving the region’s sustainable security and explicitly guaranteeing the safety of navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz and other international maritime routes.”
This diplomatic stance and convergence emerged during the official visit of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, and his delegation to Muscat. During the meeting with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi, various dimensions of bilateral relations and the latest regional security and political developments were discussed and exchanged.
