Gulf Cooperation Council Ministers Meet U.S. Officials to Discuss Regional Stability and Iran Deal

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, news sources report the commencement of a joint meeting between the United States and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani stated, “We welcome the efforts that led to the cessation of hostilities and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.” He further added, “We welcome the Sultanate of Oman’s announcement regarding the establishment of a temporary corridor for ships wishing to transit the Strait.” The Bahraini Foreign Minister indicated that the GCC member states eagerly anticipate a new chapter based on respect for sovereignty and the protection of maritime routes. He asserted that the security of the Persian Gulf states is indivisible and that this is a sensitive time for the region, proposing an expansion of cooperation with the United States. Al Zayani claimed, “Iran’s attacks were a test, and it demonstrated the resilience and strength of our institutions and societies.” He also alleged, “After the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, there is a glimmer of hope for the region. Iran must adhere to its commitments under the memorandum of understanding.” He reiterated, “We welcome the Sultanate of Oman’s declaration on the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.” On the other side, U.S. Secretary of State Marc Rubio claimed, “Our alliance has been tested in recent developments and has emerged triumphantly. Today’s session is important, and our common goal is stability and security in the region.” He added, “We are now entering a new phase that we hope will lead to peace. Washington seeks to foster constructive dialogue that leads to an agreement with Iran.
