Lebanese Shiite Mufti Denounces Beirut’s Deal with Israel as National Catastrophe

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanon‘s Shiite Mufti, Ahmad Qabalan, issued a statement warning that an agreement between the Lebanese government and the “terrorist entity Israel,” mediated by the United States, represents the “worst national catastrophe” in Lebanon’s history and possesses no legitimacy.
Qabalan added that the current Lebanese government only represents itself and not the Lebanese people.
He further elaborated that the dangerous framework of the proposed agreement effectively grants the Israeli terrorist army a form of guardianship over the operations of the Lebanese army and occupied territories, implicitly recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the areas it occupies.
He described the behind-the-scenes negotiations between the Lebanese government and the Israeli regime in Washington as a “catastrophe upon catastrophe” and emphasized that its implementation will never be accepted in reality.
The Lebanese Shiite Mufti stated that “those who have prevented the Lebanese army from defending the country are actually seeking to sacrifice the army through this national disaster.” He added that the current sovereignty has placed Lebanon in a “black box of ambiguity and secrecy,” handing over the key to the country’s governance to Washington and Tel Aviv.
Qabalan concluded by stating that regardless of the price of this disgraceful deal, the plan will never be realized.
