Gaza Devastated: 1000 Days of Genocide, 90% Destruction, $80 Billion in Damages

A decade of genocide in Gaza has resulted in an estimated 90% destruction of infrastructure and staggering damages totaling $80 billion, rendering the region uninhabitable.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Following 1000 days of ongoing genocide in Gaza, the comprehensive destruction has fundamentally altered the lives of residents in the famine-stricken and war-torn region. The devastation extends beyond mere structural damage and infrastructure collapse, encompassing a widespread erasure of daily life essentials and creating an unlivable environment.

As the Israeli regime’s genocide continues in Gaza, the latest figures from the Gaza Government Media Office reveal the extensive scale of destruction, impacting the majority of livelihood infrastructure. Statistics indicate that the occupiers have destroyed over 90% of Gaza, controlling more than 80% of its area and dropping over 223,000 tons of explosives on its population.

In the housing sector, 227,703 buildings have been damaged, with 510,000 residential units affected. Among these, 335,000 units have been completely demolished, and 75,000 units are now uninhabitable, leading to the displacement of over 350,000 families. More than 2 million Palestinians face repeated forced displacement.

The attacks on vital centers in Gaza have resulted in the bombing or destruction of 38 hospitals, the damage to 96 health centers, and the destruction of 197 ambulances. A total of 788 attacks have targeted Gaza’s healthcare system.

In education, all schools in the region have sustained damage, with 81% requiring complete reconstruction or renovation. Seventeen higher education institutions have been destroyed, depriving over 620,000 students of schooling and approximately 90,000 university students of completing their higher education.

Places of worship have also been targeted, with the occupiers completely destroying 1,047 mosques and partially damaging 210. Three churches were struck multiple times. Israeli forces have also demolished 40 cemeteries and exhumed over 2,450 bodies.

The destruction extends to infrastructure, including electricity, water, sewage networks, and roads. 725 water wells, hundreds of governmental, sports, and heritage sites have been destroyed in these attacks, and 87% of agricultural land has been annihilated. The production of vegetables and fruits has plummeted from 524,000 tons annually to approximately only 20,000 tons.

The government’s media office has estimated the initial direct damages across various sectors at around $80 billion, distributed among housing, health, education, agriculture, trade, services, and infrastructure. The report emphasizes that Gaza is undergoing a systematic destruction process targeting various life-supporting infrastructures, turning vast areas into regions almost devoid of basic signs of life.
