Liberman Accuses Netanyahu of Lying About Iran’s Nuclear Program

Avigdor Liberman, leader of the opposition ‘Yisrael Beiteinu’ party, claims Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is fabricating claims about Iran’s nuclear capabilities to distract from significant failures. Liberman asserted that Iran does not possess a nuclear bomb and suggested Netanyahu has created a ‘Hormuz bomb’ through his policies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Avigdor Liberman, head of the opposition right-wing party “Yisrael Beiteinu,” stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lied about Iran possessing a nuclear bomb. Liberman told a local radio station on Thursday that the claims promoted by Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in recent days are “utter falsehoods” and aim to divert attention from the 1000 days that have passed since the October 7, 2023, catastrophe.

“The Iranians did not have a nuclear bomb and still do not have one,” Liberman added. He further commented on Iran’s action of closing the Strait of Hormuz during the recent war, suggesting that “thanks to Netanyahu, the Iranians have built a new bomb called the ‘Hormuz bomb.'”

Liberman posited that Netanyahu’s threats against Iran are intended to distract from failures in Lebanon and the inability to contain the Houthis in Yemen. He observed that the Ansar Allah movement is growing stronger, as are Hamas and Hezbollah, while members of the Israeli cabinet are ineffective. Liberman accused cabinet ministers of creating chaos, asserting that anyone unable to resolve their own problems within a thousand days will never solve them. He noted that the cabinet is attempting to make the Israeli public forget the most horrific tragedy since the Holocaust and evade responsibility, despite a lack of decisive action on any front against the Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas, or even Iran.

In his interview, Liberman declared that his priority in the upcoming elections is to change the Netanyahu government and become prime minister. “My priority is first and foremost to change this cabinet, and I believe I am qualified in terms of ability, experience, operational understanding, and looking towards the future,” he stated. He elaborated that opposition parties know how to manage affairs after the elections, but the current cabinet must be replaced before he assumes the premiership, as it is solely focused on self-preservation.

General elections in the occupied territories are scheduled for October 27. However, Israeli reports suggest an agreement between Netanyahu and ultra-Orthodox parties to advance the election date to October 20.
