Eastern Border of Occupied Territories Described as ‘Time Bomb’ Amid Security Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Channel 12 of the Israeli television network reported that security leaders in the occupied territories and residents of settlements adjacent to the eastern borders have issued warnings regarding the danger of widespread infiltration by armed individuals via the Jordanian border. They characterized the situation in this region as a ‘time bomb’ with the potential to detonate at any moment, possibly replicating the scenario of the October 7th attack.
The Israeli media source indicated that security authorities have expressed grave concern over the existence of extensive security gaps along the eastern borders. They explained that these borders are the longest and most vulnerable to infiltration within the occupied territories and are in a highly precarious state due to ongoing smuggling operations and a lack of effective oversight.
The channel also cited residents from these areas who are convinced that an armed assault on their settlements is merely a ‘matter of time.’ Dakel Yosef, the security chief of the Yardenah settlement, stated: ‘This scenario will definitely happen, and current negligence facilitates its occurrence.’
Conversely, Meir Tzur, head of the “Arava Central” regional council, criticized the absence of military presence in the area. He emphasized that the weak presence of the Israeli army constitutes the biggest security failure in light of continuous smuggling operations across the borders.
He further stressed that military patrols for inspection in these areas are virtually nonexistent.
