Hormuz Strait Ship Traffic Hits Three-Week Low Amid U.S. Tensions

Ship traffic in the vital Strait of Hormuz has fallen to its lowest point in three weeks, with only eight vessels transiting the waterway in the past day, according to Kepler data. This decline occurs amidst ongoing tensions stemming from U.S. actions in the Persian Gulf.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, data released by Kepler indicates a significant reduction in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz over the last 24 hours. Specifically, only eight ships passed through the strategic waterway, marking the lowest number of transits in the past three weeks.

This decrease in vessel movement comes as the United States has engaged in actions within the Persian Gulf region that have disrupted shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz. The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently stated its authority over the management of the strait.

Iran has reiterated that vessels are expected to adhere to the secure routes designated by Iranian authorities. Furthermore, the responsibility for any consequences arising from the use of alternative routes, which could potentially invite U.S. military intervention in the region, will rest with the vessels that deviate from the established safe passages.
