Iran-Oman Talks on Hormuz Strait Progressing, Sources Say

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, two regional sources have indicated that talks between Iran and Oman regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the countries’ territorial waterways in the region are advancing. While the negotiation process is being assessed positively, diplomacy still requires more time to reach a final agreement.

Omani officials traveled to Tehran on Friday for discussions. This diplomatic effort coincided with a decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to halt American airstrikes, which had been ongoing for 13 consecutive nights prior.

These two regional sources also claimed that the cessation of U.S. strikes was intended to prevent disruption to the sensitive ongoing face-to-face negotiations. CBS News reported that the White House and the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) did not respond to requests for comment on the matter. The American media outlet’s report concluded by stating that the United States is closely monitoring the Iran-Oman negotiations.
