Tanker Reports Unknown Object Near Vessel in Red Sea

A tanker navigating the southern Red Sea has reported encountering an unknown object, sparking fresh security concerns in the vital waterway. The incident occurs amid heightened regional tensions and a recent declaration by Yemeni forces targeting Saudi maritime and oil exports.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, regional media outlets, citing the British Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), have reported that a tanker traversing the southern Red Sea has alerted to the presence of an unknown object. The vessel indicated that a projectile was detected in proximity to its location.

Further details regarding the tanker’s nationality and its cargo have not yet been disclosed. This incident unfolds as Yemeni armed forces have announced their intention to impose a blockade on Saudi Arabian ports and shipping, as well as the kingdom’s oil exports in the Red Sea. This move is framed as a reciprocal action in response to the intensified aerial and maritime siege imposed on Yemen by Saudi aggressors.

In recent days, several vessels associated with Saudi Arabia have experienced incidents, leading a significant number of ships to alter their routes away from the Bab al-Mandab strait.
