Al-Nujaba Spokesperson Denounces US-Led ‘Weapon Monopoly’ Scheme Targeting Resistance
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hussein Ali Al-Mousawi, the spokesperson for Iraq‘s Al-Nujaba Movement, has fiercely criticized the proposed plan to consolidate weapons under government control, warning that the initiative directly targets resistance groups and is being pursued under direct pressure and dictates from the United States and the Zionist regime. He made these remarks in an interview with Russia Today news channel.
Al-Mousawi dismissed reports and claims concerning an assassination attempt against Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydan, stating that these allegations lack credibility and are fabricated solely to incite public opinion and tarnish the image of resistance factions.
He further characterized official statements and actions regarding drone control as a “staged performance” devoid of reality.
The Al-Nujaba spokesperson highlighted inconsistencies within the weapons monopoly plan, revealing that approximately 25,000 Iranian Kurdish forces are armed in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, receiving support from the United States and oversight from local Kurdish officials. He added that an additional nearly 15,000 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) affiliated personnel, equipped with heavy and semi-heavy weaponry, are present in the Sinjar region.
Addressing the refusal of Kurdistan Region leaders to hand over weapons from Peshmerga forces, and their reluctance to even discuss the matter, the Al-Nujaba official questioned the silence surrounding these substantial arms stockpiles while all focus and pressure are directed towards disarming the resistance.
Concluding his remarks, Al-Mousawi criticized the financial and economic agreements between Baghdad and Washington, asserting that these economic pacts have transformed Iraq from a country under military occupation to one under American economic occupation.
