Guyana’s Caroline Rodrigues Berkett Leads UN Secretary-General Candidacy, Backs Palestine

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Caroline Rodrigues Berkett, Guyana’s representative to the United Nations, is leading her rivals in the selection process for the organization’s next Secretary-General, as reported by Mehr News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen.

Berkett is recognized as a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause, having previously condemned the actions of the Israeli regime. She is currently at the forefront of candidates vying for the top post at the United Nations.

Eight candidates are competing for the role of UN Secretary-General. To secure the position, a nominee must obtain the required nine votes from the 15-member Security Council and avoid a veto from any of the permanent members.
