UN Secretary-General Demands Immediate Halt to Attacks on Ukrainian Civilians and Infrastructure

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an immediate cessation of attacks on local residents and civilian infrastructure amidst escalating conflict in Ukraine, deeming such actions a violation of international humanitarian law.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated in an interview with TASS news agency that Secretary-General António Guterres has urged an immediate end to assaults on local populations and civilian infrastructure amid intensifying conflict in Ukraine.

Dujarric, responding to Ukraine’s alleged attack on Russia’s Krasnodar region, emphasized that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, regardless of their location, constitute a breach of international humanitarian law.

He further conveyed that the UN Secretary-General is profoundly concerned about the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine.

Last night, on August 24, Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted a large-scale assault on Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. According to the regional emergency response headquarters, a private children’s care facility in Krasnodar was damaged, resulting in the deaths of three children. Two adults and six children were hospitalized with various injuries. Additionally, a five-story residential building sustained damage, leaving two women injured.
