Hamas Condemns Gaza Building Collapse as Dire Consequence of Israeli Aggression, Warns of Further Catastrophes
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced that the disaster of the Al-Saada residential building’s collapse in Gaza City, which fell upon its inhabitants and sheltering displaced individuals, marks a new chapter in the devastating human consequences of the genocidal war and extensive destruction left by the occupying regime in the Gaza Strip.
The statement indicated that following the building’s collapse, a number of Palestinians were martyred, and approximately 100 individuals remain missing under the rubble.
The movement emphasized that this tragedy is another direct outcome of the occupying regime’s brutal genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, with full responsibility resting upon this regime.
The statement further detailed that the occupier’s crimes extend beyond bombing civilians, destroying their homes, and committing massacres against the people of Gaza. The ramifications of these crimes continue today with the collapse of damaged and dilapidated buildings. Palestinian citizens have been forced to seek shelter in these structures due to the widespread destruction of their homes and residential areas, and the lack of alternative housing.
Hamas reported a severe shortage of rubble-clearing machinery and essential rescue equipment needed to search for the dozens of missing people under the debris of the Al-Saada building. With critical hours passing, the lives of more innocent civilians are under threat.
The movement called for immediate action from the international community to facilitate the entry of heavy machinery, rescue equipment, and necessary supplies for relief organizations into the Gaza Strip. This would enable rescue teams to access individuals trapped under the rubble and save those who are still alive.
Hamas also warned of a more extensive humanitarian catastrophe, revealing that the Gaza Rescue Organization has reported approximately 2,000 dilapidated, damaged, and structurally unsound buildings that continue to house residents, with a risk of collapse at any moment.
The movement stressed that this situation places the lives of thousands of Palestinian citizens in real, continuous, and serious danger.
The statement continued by noting that Hamas leadership, in previous meetings and contacts with mediators and international parties, has repeatedly called for urgent measures to halt the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the occupier’s actions, a disaster whose consequences persist throughout the Gaza Strip.
Hamas urged mediators, the United States government, and relevant international institutions to assume their responsibilities and act to immediately lift the restrictions hindering the entry of rescue equipment and essential machinery into Gaza.
The movement also called for urgent attention to the escalating human danger in Gaza and for the provision of necessary facilities to ensure safe housing for Palestinians who have been forced by the war and the destruction of their homes to live in damaged and vulnerable buildings.
Hamas concluded by praying for mercy for the martyrs of this incident, wishing recovery for the injured, and hoping for the safety and rescue of the missing and those trapped under the rubble.
