US Policy in Middle East Should Not Be Subservient to Israel, Says Vance

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Senator JD Vance claimed on Tuesday that Washington’s foreign policy in the Middle East cannot be “subservient to the Israeli government” and that America does not always agree with Israel on regional issues.

Speaking on a podcast, Vance stated that U.S. President Donald Trump recognizes Israel’s importance as a partner for Washington in military technology and intelligence sharing, but acknowledged that disagreements exist with Israel on certain matters.

He asserted that Trump, more than previous U.S. presidents over the past four decades, has demonstrated a readiness to differ with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when American interests are not aligned with those of Israel.

Vance drew a parallel with U.S. relations with NATO members, noting that Washington does not make its foreign policy towards Europe entirely subservient to NATO, despite the importance of these countries. Similarly, he argued, American Middle East policy should not be subservient to Israel.

“When our interests align, we cooperate with others, and when we differ, we express our opposition and pursue American interests,” Vance added.
