Turkey’s Foreign Minister Fidan Declares Israel Greatest Threat to Syrian Stability

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Wednesday that Israel currently represents the “greatest threat” to Syria‘s stability. He explained that Israel views powerful and stable neighboring countries as a threat to its own security.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Damascus, following a meeting with Bashar al-Assad, Fidan emphasized, “The threat that currently has the most capacity to destabilize Syria is Israel.”

He further elaborated that while other issues concerning Syria have moved in a positive direction over the past two years, Israel shows no inclination for its neighbors to be strong and stable, perceiving such a situation as a threat against itself.

Fidan stated, “Because of the definition Israel has of this threat, it undertakes destabilizing actions against these countries.”

The newspaper Yeni Şafak reported that the meeting between the Turkish Foreign Minister and Bashar al-Assad lasted approximately two hours.
