Italy Secretly Relocates Fighter Jets from Saudi Base Amid Yemen Attack Fears

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Italian newspaper La Repubblica, citing high-ranking government sources, has revealed that Italy is rapidly and secretly relocating some of its fighter jets from the Al Taif airbase in Saudi Arabia. Italian officials reportedly fear that these fighter jets could become targets of Yemeni forces. Previously, this base was targeted by the Yemeni armed forces, resulting in severe damage to one of the Eurofighter jets.

Sources familiar with the matter emphasized that two C-130J military transport aircraft were at the forefront of the equipment and supplies that were quickly moved due to the direct and serious threat they faced. This comes as hundreds of Italian soldiers remain stationed at the Al Taif base, and intelligence agencies in Rome are currently examining options for a partial or complete withdrawal of forces.

Published reports indicate that Yemeni officials have communicated to Italy that they are not at war with the country, raising questions about the presence of Italian fighter jets in Saudi Arabia. It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia’s air defense systems are reportedly incapable of countering Yemeni attacks and supporting its military bases, as well as foreign installations.
