Israel’s Security Cabinet Convenes to Assess Iran Scenarios Amid US Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a security cabinet meeting to assess the region’s security status. This session comes in the wake of threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump against Iran, amidst assessments by senior Israeli officials regarding the potential for renewed conflict with Iran in the near future.

During his address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump claimed he anticipated reaching an agreement with Iran after the U.S. midterm elections in November. He further elaborated on his assertions against Iran, stating he faced a “big decision”: whether to pursue an agreement or seek Iran’s destruction.

Channel 13 of Israeli television, citing a senior Israeli officer, reported that the Israeli army is preparing for three distinct scenarios. The first involves responding to a missile attack on occupied territories. The second outlines the commencement of a new joint military operation against Iran with American backing. The third details a potential unilateral strike by the Israeli army against Iran.

Previously, Israeli Minister of War Yisrael Katz had threatened to target Iran’s energy infrastructure and facilities if Tehran launched an attack against Israel. The United States and Israel engaged in military conflict against Iran on February 28th, to which Tehran responded with significant strikes on occupied territories and American bases in regional countries.
