Federal Judge Overturns Trump’s White House Press Ban for CNN, MSNBC, Politico
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a federal judge has ordered the reinstatement of White House access for reporters representing CNN, MSNBC, and Politico. The judge issued the ruling on Thursday, effectively ending a ban imposed by President Donald Trump against the three major news organizations.
The court found that the ban, implemented by the Trump administration, potentially violates constitutional rights. This decision represents a major defeat for President Trump in one of his most prominent disputes with the press.
The ruling was issued by U.S. District Court Judge Tim Kelly while adjudicating a lawsuit filed by the news organizations challenging the ban that Trump had announced on September 18th.
President Trump had previously asserted on social media that these news outlets should not be permitted to consistently publish or report fabricated and false content. Attorneys for the U.S. Department of Justice had attempted to justify the ban by citing national security concerns.
Tensions between the media and President Trump escalated last week when White House reporters from CNN, MSNBC, and Politico were denied entry to the executive mansion. The three news organizations announced on Monday that they would pursue legal action to reclaim their access rights.
Following the administration’s ban on CNN’s White House access, major television networks including Fox News, CBS, ABC, and NBC had agreed to cease their joint coverage of events involving the U.S. President.
