Iranian President Criticizes European Inaction in Recent Conflicts
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated during a meeting with António Costa, President of the European Council, that European countries have been ineffective in their response to the United States. He argued that European actions concerning the snapback mechanism and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), along with operating under the shadow of hostile European actions, have led to their exclusion from influencing international developments.
Pezeshkian, referencing remarks by the NATO Secretary General about European countries assisting the United States during wartime, emphasized, “We expect European countries to reconsider their actions and maintain their independence. In the recent conflict, we witnessed inaction from some countries, but not neutrality.”
The President underscored that ensuring regional security is the responsibility of the region’s nations, asserting that Western government interference has impacted not only regional security but global security as well. He suggested that anyone seeking the cause of recent events should examine the behavior of Western governments.
When the President of the European Council requested a role in regional matters, Dr. Pezeshkian responded: “Europeans have deprived themselves of this role by aligning themselves behind the United States.”
The President delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in the United States yesterday, which garnered significant attention from global media outlets.
