Iraq Consults with US to Resume Iranian Flights

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency citing Al Jazeera, the office of the Iraqi Prime Minister issued a statement announcing that Baghdad is in direct dialogue with the American side. This initiative follows actions taken by the U.S. Treasury Department concerning Iranian flights to airports in regional countries, including Iraq, with the goal of exempting some of these Iraqi airports.

The statement further elaborated that the objective of this measure is to resume Iranian flights based on humanitarian considerations, encompassing treatment, education, pilgrimage travel, and matters beneficial to citizens. The Iraqi government seeks to de-escalate the regional situation, emphasizing that the continuation of crises exacerbates complexities.

The Iraqi government urged all parties to pursue dialogue and negotiation to find solutions for crises and conflicts, as stated in the communique. Previously, Iraq’s decision to halt Iranian flights had drawn significant criticism from political factions within the country, including the Nujaba Movement.
