Republican Lawmakers Distance Themselves from President Trump Amid Election Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Washington Post has reported that an examination of the behaviors and stances of several Republican representatives indicates they are striving to distance themselves from President Donald Trump, even on extremely sensitive internal party issues. This strategic move is reportedly aimed at increasing their prospects for electoral success.

The report details that four members of the Republican party in the U.S. Senate voted in favor of limiting President Trump’s military powers. The number of representatives supporting such limitations was even higher in the House of Representatives.

Furthermore, Roger Wicker, the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, criticized President Trump’s conduct during the reception of the President of China. Wicker emphasized that Trump should not have extended such a warm welcome to his Chinese counterpart upon their arrival in the United States.

The Washington Post also pointed to a request made by Republican Senator John Curtis for an investigation into the financial sources used to fund President Trump’s son’s wedding celebration.
