Iraqi Coalition Urges Baghdad to Reconsider Iran Flight Ban Amid US Pressure

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a member of the Iraqi State of Law Coalition has strongly urged the Baghdad government to reconsider its recent decision to suspend flights to and from Iran. Ibrahim Al-Sakini, a prominent figure within the coalition, stated that U.S. President Donald Trump is attempting to sow discord between Iran and Iraq by pressuring Baghdad to halt these flights.

Al-Sakini emphasized that the Iraqi government’s decision to cease flights, made under alleged American pressure, contradicts the principles of the United Nations and constitutes interference in Iraq’s internal affairs. He asserted that this move violates Iraq’s sovereignty and called for a review of the decision, highlighting the significant economic and social cooperation between Iran and Iraq, particularly in areas such as food supplies, tourism, and gas exports.

Furthermore, Al-Sakini pointed out the practical implications of the flight ban, noting that Iraqi oil tankers transit through the Strait of Hormuz. He also recalled Iran’s crucial support for Iraq in its fight against ISIS. The decision by Baghdad to halt flights has reportedly triggered widespread political and public protests within Iraq in recent days.
