Hezbollah Commemorates Second Anniversary of Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah’s Assassination
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hezbollah is set to hold a ceremony this Sunday afternoon to commemorate the second anniversary of the assassination of its late Secretary-General, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah. The event is being organized with central preparations in the southern suburb of Beirut, and supporters of the party began gathering in parts of southern Lebanon and the Dahiya early Sunday morning.
The Media Relations Unit of Hezbollah announced that the main ceremony will take place at 4:30 PM on Sunday at Nasrallah’s resting place in the ‘Beir Hassan’ area of the southern Dahiya. This event will honor the second anniversary of his martyrdom, as well as that of Hashem Safieddine, another late Secretary-General of Hezbollah, and several other companions.
Since early this morning, Hezbollah supporters have begun gathering in several areas of southern Lebanon and the southern Dahiya. Simultaneously, images of Martyr Nasrallah and party flags have been displayed, and preparations for the main ceremony are in progress.
Lebanese authorities have also implemented traffic measures in conjunction with the ceremony. The Internal Security Forces stated that routes leading to Martyr Nasrallah’s shrine, from the old airport road and the ‘Ziad Rahbani’ highway, will be closed from 1:00 PM until the end of the event.
The commemoration of the second anniversary of Martyr Seyed Hassan Nasrallah’s assassination by the Israeli regime occurs amidst significant developments that Hezbollah and Lebanon have witnessed since that time. Following several months of conflict, subsequent to Hezbollah’s involvement on the front in support of Gaza, Lebanon and the occupying Israeli regime, with American mediation, moved towards a security agreement. This agreement included the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli regime in exchange for the disarmament of Hezbollah and the deployment of the Lebanese army. However, the Israeli regime has not fulfilled its commitments under the agreement, leading Hezbollah to emphasize the preservation of its weaponry.
The Israeli regime assassinated Hezbollah Secretary-General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah on September 27, 2024, following a series of intense airstrikes on Hezbollah’s central headquarters in the ‘Haret Hreik’ area of southern Beirut. The terrorist operation, aimed at targeting the party’s underground headquarters, utilized 80 powerful bunker-buster bombs.
One day after this attack, Hezbollah officially announced the martyrdom of Nasrallah, who had held the position of Secretary-General since 1992, succeeding Abbas al-Musawi. Martyr Nasrallah led Hezbollah for over three decades, a period that included the July 2006 war and subsequent confrontations with the Zionist occupiers.
