US Envoy Claims Iran Prohibited From Nuclear Weapons Program, Cites UN Resolutions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a U.S. Representative to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, reiterated Washington’s claims against Iran, stating that Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapons program. Without acknowledging the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear activities, Waltz claimed that over the past 20 years, seven UN Security Council resolutions have explicitly stipulated that Iran is prohibited from developing nuclear weapons.

Responding to a question about whether reports of President Trump preparing to resume military strikes post-midterm elections were accurate, the U.S. Representative dismissed these as based on anonymous sources. “What I can say is that the President keeps all options on the table to ensure the world is safe from being held hostage by a nuclear-armed Iran!” he stated.

In what appeared to be a public relations move, Waltz criticized the rejection of Iran’s proposal by President Trump, asserting that Iran’s offer was a disingenuous attempt to present an unacceptably framed proposition. He further claimed that President Trump had clearly stated at the UN General Assembly that political matters were irrelevant to the core issue, which he identified as safeguarding future generations from Iran’s nuclear weapons threat to the world.

Waltz also raised concerns about Iran’s actions towards international commercial shipping, questioning the rationale behind alleged attacks on such vessels. He highlighted that 146 countries had joined the U.S. in condemning Iran’s attacks on civilian ships, drawing a parallel to prohibitions against firing on passenger aircraft. “Just as you cannot shoot down passenger planes (solely because you are on one side of a dispute), you cannot shoot down civilian ships,” he asserted, adding that Iran faces global condemnation and is violating international law across various domains.
