Russia Criticizes Western Actions Undermining Arctic Council

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, efforts by Western nations to undermine the work of the Arctic Council are seriously impacting the council’s effectiveness and standing, according to a Russian Foreign Ministry official. Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in an interview that interactions among the council’s member states have currently ceased.

Maslennikov elaborated that the halt in engagement is a direct consequence of Western provocations, which have led to the cancellation of senior officials’ committee meetings. He further noted that despite the apparent ineffectiveness of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in resolving conflicts, Moscow remains interested in the organization as a platform for discussing regional issues.

Maslennikov previously told RIA Novosti that the OSCE is ineffective in resolving disputes.
