Al-Nujaba Movement Claims US Forming Assassination Unit in Iraq, Criticizes Baghdad’s Flight Ban

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Sheikh Ali Al-Asadi, head of the Political Council of the Al-Nujaba Movement in Iraq, stated in an interview with Al Mayadeen that the Iraqi government’s decision to prohibit Iranian aircraft from landing at its airports amounts to “surrendering to American bullying.” In the exclusive interview, scheduled for full broadcast on Al Mayadeen, Sheikh Ali Al-Asadi urged “Iraqi decision-makers” to reconsider the ban on Iranian flights, warning that failure to do so would incite “popular pressure movements to effect change.” He emphasized Iraq’s need for independence in its political, security, and economic decisions, asserting that self-governance and the cessation of American interference would render resistance unnecessary. Sheikh Al-Asadi also revealed an alleged American plot to destabilize Iraq, claiming that Americans have assembled a group of Iraqis tasked with carrying out assassinations, stating, “They are under our watch.” The senior member of the Iraqi resistance noted that security figures were involved in this American scheme to sow sedition, but their plot was identified and thwarted. He further disclosed the discovery of an American plan to instigate conflict between Al-Nujaba and Iraqi security forces through a third party. Recalling past confrontations, Sheikh Ali Al-Asadi mentioned that simple tools were used to counter 150,000 American occupying soldiers, leading to their humiliation. Underscoring that “resistance will not end,” he declared that resistance has laid the foundation for Washington’s defeat. Sheikh Al-Asadi also recounted an attempt by the American Chargé d’Affaires to contact Al-Nujaba through a politician, seeking a meeting. He revealed that Americans offered projects and incentives contingent on Al-Nujaba relinquishing its strategic weapons targeting Israel, an offer that was rejected. The movement currently has no intention of entering the political process, as it does not endorse the current governance of the country. Regarding relations with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, Sheikh Al-Asadi described them as good, stating they have met multiple times and believe the issues stem from the Prime Minister’s advisors. He reiterated Al-Nujaba’s demand for the government to utilize Iraq’s leverage, including the resistance, as a tool.
