Canadian Opposition Party Calls for Netanyahu Sanctions
According to webangah News Agency, Canada’s new Democratic Party (NDP) has urged Prime Minister Mark Carney to suspend the free trade agreement with Israel in response to Benjamin Netanyahu’s actions against Palestinians.
NDP Member of Parliament Heather McPherson stated: “The human blockade and forced starvation of Palestinians in Gaza violate all moral principles and international laws. The bombings, shootings, deliberate starvation, and dehumanization mean Netanyahu and his cabinet are war criminals who must face justice.”
Canada joined France and Britain this week in condemning both the Gaza blockade and the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank. These nations warned they would impose additional targeted sanctions against Israel if necesary.
McPherson emphasized these warnings remain meaningless while thousands more Palestinian civilians are killed or face starvation-related deaths.
“The EU and UK are reviewing thier trade relations with Israel,” she added. ”Canada must follow suit by suspending our free trade agreement.”
