UN Warns of Rebel War Crimes in Sudan’s El Obeid, Calls for Probe

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported an intensification of drone attacks by Rapid Support Forces rebels on civilian centers and critical infrastructure, including power plants and fuel stations, in the city of El Obeid since June. These escalating hostilities directly threaten hundreds of thousands of lives, including 100,000 displaced individuals, and have precipitated a severe crisis in the supply of water, fuel, and essential commodities.
In light of this dire situation, the UN Human Rights Council has issued a warning about the potential for widespread atrocities and has called for an immediate investigation into the crimes occurring in the region. This crisis, unfolding amidst internal conflicts between the Sudanese army and rebel forces, has exacerbated the humanitarian situation in North Kordofan.
