Israeli Jets Patrol Southern Syria; Explosions Reported in Latakia

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syrian sources have reported hearing explosions in the Latakia province. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that explosions were heard in the vicinity of Al-Thawra highway and the Al-Dachtour area within Latakia city. Concurrently, Syrian sources have also reported extensive flights by Israeli fighter jets over southern Syria, specifically noting their presence over the Daraa governorate. Since the fall of the former Syrian regime, the Israeli regime has intensified its occupation in southern Syria, securing control over the strategic Jabal al-Sheikh heights. Analysts suggest that recent Israeli incursions and expansionist activities in southern Syria are an attempt to establish a new security reality along the northern borders, driven by Tel Aviv’s concerns regarding the activities of armed groups. Damascus, in turn, fears that these temporary operations, particularly given the repeated deployment of field positions and military movements in areas near the buffer zone, could evolve into a long-term military presence.
