Seoul Claims North Korea Launched Projectile Towards Sea

South Korea’s military has claimed that an unidentified projectile was fired by Pyongyang towards the sea, amid ongoing regional tensions and past missile tests by North Korea.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, South Korea’s military has asserted that an unidentified projectile was launched by North Korea into the sea. The Yonhap news agency, citing the South Korean military, reported the claim but provided no specific details regarding the nature or ultimate destination of the projectile. This alleged launch follows previous assertions from Japan concerning North Korean missile activity.

Last Thursday, Japan’s Ministry of Defense also claimed that North Korea had fired a missile, suspected to be ballistic. Kyodo News, quoting Japanese officials, reported that this missile landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, and no reports of damage were received.

Western and regional media outlets have reported that North Korea, under the leadership’s supervision, has conducted numerous weapons tests since June 25, including tactical ballistic missiles, artillery shells, and multiple rocket launchers. Furthermore, on July 3, the nation claimed to have tested a strategic cruise missile from its new destroyer.
