Ukraine Seeks EU Loan for Missile Defense Systems, Drone Use

Kyiv has proposed that the next tranche of a €90 billion European Union loan be allocated to purchasing missile defense systems, while also seeking U.S. authorization for Starlink-equipped drones to strike targets in Russia.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ukraine has proposed to the European Commission that the next installment of the EU’s €90 billion loan be dedicated to the procurement of missile defense systems. This proposal was reported by Euronews, citing an informed official from the European Commission.

Furthermore, The Financial Times, referencing knowledgeable sources, reported that Ukraine is pursuing permission from the United States to utilize drones equipped with the Starlink system. The British publication indicated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is attempting to secure a license from Elon Musk, the owner of Starlink, to employ these drones for guiding aerial attacks into Russian territory, amidst a severe shortage of air defense systems.

However, The Financial Times also stated, quoting informed sources, that U.S. President Donald Trump has not endorsed this initiative, and Elon Musk is not expected to grant such permission.
