China’s President Xi Jinping: Palestine is the Core Issue of the Middle East
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated during his meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Beijing that the Palestinian issue lies at the heart of Middle East problems. Both leaders also underscored the necessity of resuming normal maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
A summary of the meeting, broadcast by China’s state radio, indicated that President Xi called for a political resolution, the restart of peace negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, and the swift establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
King Abdullah II remarked that the signing of cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding between Jordan and China signifies the commitment of both nations to strengthening their robust relationship.
During his discussions with the Chinese President in Beijing, King Abdullah II affirmed Jordan’s interest in expanding cooperation with China across various sectors, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food, engineering, tourism, education, and culture.
A joint statement released following the talks between King Abdullah II and President Xi Jinping in Beijing affirmed Jordan and China’s dedication to further enhancing their strategic partnership, particularly in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, tourism, education, health, digital economy, and artificial intelligence.
Both sides agreed to bolster cooperation in combating terrorism and organized crime, alongside intensifying political coordination. Jordan reiterated its adherence to the one-China principle and its support for China’s territorial integrity.
Regarding regional matters, both leaders called for the stabilization of the ceasefire in Gaza and the provision of humanitarian aid. They also backed Palestinian self-governance, the two-state solution, and the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They condemned the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The two countries emphasized the importance of maintaining a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, resolving disputes through dialogue, and restoring normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed during the visit, and King Abdullah II extended an invitation to President Xi Jinping to visit Jordan.
