Iran Outlines Strait of Hormuz Navigation Proposals for Oman Summit

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran‘s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, revealed in an interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting in Oman centers on a new navigational route within the Strait of Hormuz.

Araghchi stated that details of the agreement with Oman, along with maps pertaining to the proposed new route, would be provided to the participating countries. He emphasized that any agreement with Oman does not signify the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian Foreign Minister further clarified that Iran’s condition for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is the United States’ return to its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Iran maintains the stance that regional countries alone are responsible for the security and stability of the area.

He expressed hope that these discussions would pave the way for future consultations on matters of concern to the countries in the region.
