Nearly 200 Vessels Transit Bab al-Mandab Strait in Five Days
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Yemeni Ministry of Transport in Sana’a reported on Monday that 198 commercial vessels passed through the Bab al-Mandab Strait within a five-day period. The ministry emphasized the ongoing normalcy of navigation and vessel transit through this strategically vital waterway.
Officials from the Ministry of Transport noted that the current figures may not fully represent the total traffic, as some vessels are not appearing on radar due to the deactivation of their tracking systems. This suggests that the actual number of transiting ships could be higher.
The ministry further stated its continued commitment to monitoring efforts and data exchange to ensure the security of international shipping in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. It confirmed that international maritime trade and global supply chains are operating uninterrupted through this route, with the sole exception of vessels linked to the Saudi regime.
The Ministry of Transport reiterated that maritime navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait remains secure for all international vessels, explicitly excluding ships affiliated with Saudi Arabia from this safe passage guarantee.
