Switzerland’s announcement of readiness to mediate between Russia and Ukraine

The president of Switzerland announced that the country is ready to mediate between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency, according to Reuters, “Carin Keller Satter” the new president of Switzerland announced that in a recent telephone conversation with “Volodymyr Zelensky” President of Ukraine said that Switzerland is ready to act as a mediator country in the process of resolving the crisis in Ukraine slow.

By publishing a message on the “X” social network, he wrote: In a phone call with President Zelensky, I told him about (Switzerland’s) continued support for Ukraine – in particular through the many humanitarian and long-term reconstruction initiatives and also our willingness to participate in the process of Peace through the offices of Swiss Assurance I gave.

The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced late last year that Switzerland will not hold a second conference on Ukraine and Bern is now focused on preparing for ceasefire talks.

Ignazio Cassis, Switzerland’s foreign minister said on December 16 that Switzerland is actively working with the European Union, the United States, Russia and the Group of 7 to organize a second conference on Ukraine and Russia’s participation in the process.

In June, Putin proposed initiatives for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

According to Putin’s plan, Moscow will immediately cease hostilities and after the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the newly integrated areas Russia declares its readiness to negotiate.

Furthermore, Ukraine must declare its refusal to join NATO, undertake demilitarization efforts, and adopt a neutral, non-aligned, non-nuclear status. Putin also emphasized the need to lift sanctions against Russia as part of the settlement process.
