US Defense Layers Compromised by New Iranian Ballistic Missiles, Says Report

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a report citing USA Today indicates that military experts believe Iran possesses a new generation of ballistic missiles capable of bypassing American air defense layers and precisely destroying targets. This capability has led to substantial damage to US bases in Persian Gulf countries.

At the forefront of this missile development is the ‘Kheibar Shekan’ (Khyber-buster) missile, boasting a range of 900 miles and equipped with a warhead steerable via satellite signals. Iran has extensively utilized these types of missiles in its strikes against US bases in Bahrain and Jordan.

Unlike classic ballistic missiles that follow a fixed, trackable trajectory, this new generation of missiles can alter their course during the final stage of flight, making them exceedingly difficult for enemy air defenses to intercept. The Kheibar Shekan is launched from mobile platforms, significantly complicating efforts to detect and destroy it before firing. These missiles are capable of striking US and Israeli positions, as well as Washington’s bases in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Experts have emphasized that Iran’s missile capabilities have compelled the United States to make unprecedented changes to its defensive postures. A Washington Post report revealed that 228 facilities across 15 US military bases have sustained damage.

US General Barry McCaffrey stated that the US may no longer be able to utilize these 15 bases, attributing heavy damage to these facilities to Iran’s new missile technology, alongside drone attacks.
