America repeated the false excuse of occupying Syria

The US defense minister claimed that the country's military presence in Syria is necessary to fight ISIS.

According to Mehr News Agency, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in a conversation with the Associated Press, repeated the claims of US officials for occupying Syria and not withdrawing Washington’s troops from the country and looting Syria’s oil and underground resources, claiming that the US needs to maintain its forces in Syria. until the return of threats from the terrorist group “ISIS” to prevent.

He said, this presence is especially necessary to ensure the security of the detention centers in Syria, which include tens of thousands of former ISIS members and their families.

Austin, who was present at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany to discuss military aid to Ukraine, added: “If Syria is left unprotected, I believe that ISIS forces will return to their main activities.”

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) also claimed in a statement on Wednesday night: Our goal in Iraq and Syria is to prevent the transformation of ISIS and restore its power.

Also, the Pentagon claimed to attack centers belonging to the Yemeni armed forces.

The US Department of Defense claimed in a statement that it targeted the Central Command of the Yemeni Armed Forces.

In the continuation of the Pentagon statement, it was claimed: Hours ago, we bombed the central command and two facilities of the Houthis (Ansarullah) in Yemen.

Justifying the aggressive attacks on Yemen, the Pentagon claimed: These attacks are part of our efforts to weaken the ability of the Houthis to threaten partners and ships in the region.

The Associated Press wrote: Estimates show that between 8,000 and 10,000 ISIS terrorist forces are still present in these detention centers in Syria, and at least 2,000 of them are considered a serious threat.

During his first term in office in 2018, Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, tried to withdraw all American forces from Syria; An action that led to the resignation of James Mattis, the then US Secretary of Defense.

However, last month, while referring to the advance of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham forces against the Assad government, Trump emphasized that the US military should stay away from the conflict in this crisis.

Currently, America has about 2,000 soldiers in Syria; According to Washington officials, this figure is more than the official number of 900 people that was announced earlier.

These forces have been sent to this country since 2015 and after the spread of ISIS over large areas of Syria.
