Israeli Regime Blocks Barcelona Mayor’s Entry to Tel Aviv
The Population and Immigration Department at Israel’s Ministry of interior announced that it did not grant entry to Jaume Collboni, Mayor of Barcelona, who was scheduled to arrive in the occupied territories around midnight.
Hebrew media reported that the mayor’s visa for travel to Tel Aviv has been revoked.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth stated that on Friday, the ministry announced this decision “in accordance with Israel’s Entry into israel Law and in coordination with the Foreign Ministry and the Security Cabinet.”
This move follows recent remarks made by Mayor Jaume Collboni against Israel,as well as last May when Barcelona’s city council passed a resolution to cut ties with Israel.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, whose country officially recognizes Palestine, has strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on Gaza, describing them as a genocidal regime.
