European Union Rejects U.S. Call for Military Involvement in Strait of Hormuz

The European Union has stated it has no desire to participate in any military action against Iran, rejecting a U.S. request to deploy naval forces to the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the European Union‘s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, announced on Monday evening following the conclusion of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels that member states have opposed the United States’ request to send naval forces to the Strait of Hormuz.

Kallas informed reporters that European Union member states harbor no inclination to actively participate in military actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

She further explained that the European Union’s focus remains on enhancing maritime security. However, member states have expressed minimal interest in expanding their current missions to include the Strait of Hormuz.
